Owner Statements in SuperControl

Owner Statements in SuperControl: Progress, Challenges, and What’s Ahead

We’re excited to share a long-awaited update that many of you have been eager to hear—owner amounts within the SuperControl owner portal have finally been corrected. After extensive work and collaboration with SuperControl, we are pleased to report that the updated system is now undergoing testing and we’re optimistic that it will significantly improve the way financial information is presented to property owners.

What’s Been Fixed?

The primary issue we faced was that the owner statements within the SuperControl portal did not accurately reflect how we manage finances on our side. While the amounts shown to owners are now aligning correctly with what is owed, the format and clarity of the statements themselves still leave room for improvement. This next phase is all about refining how information is displayed.

Why Were Statements So Confusing?

The confusion stemmed from fundamental differences between our internal processes and the way SuperControl handles commission and expenses:

  • Our Process: When a guest makes a booking, we deduct our 20% commission before subtracting expenses like cleaning fees, hot tub charges, and card payment fees.

  • SuperControl’s Process: SuperControl, on the other hand, deducts all expenses first and then calculates commission after.

To bridge this difference, a workaround was introduced where SuperControl added 20% on top of every expense, and then rolled that into our commission. While the maths technically worked, it made the owner statements extremely confusing and difficult to follow.

Thankfully, SuperControl acknowledged the confusion and has gone back to the drawing board. The goal is now to present statements that are not only accurate, but also intuitive and easy to understand.

What’s Next?

To make things more transparent, we’ve submitted a proposal for a full redesign of the statements. Instead of the current system that presents bookings as one long list in a basic table, the proposed layout would break down each booking in a clear and structured way, showing exactly what’s been charged and deducted, and how the final owner amount has been calculated.

We want to be honest—this kind of redesign isn’t something that can be implemented overnight. It takes time to develop, test, and roll out properly. However, we’re optimistic that by the end of July, we’ll be able to use these new and improved statements for the June 2025 payment cycle.

In the Meantime

As the system overhaul continues, we’ve had to manually prepare the May 2025 owner statements—a time-consuming but necessary step to ensure everyone gets accurate information.

We appreciate your patience during this transition and are looking forward to the day when manual statements are a thing of the past.

Here’s to the next payment run being simpler, clearer, and a whole lot faster!
