Improving Sauna Safety for Guests – New Visual Guides for Devon Holidays Lodges

At Devon Holidays, we are always looking for ways to improve the guest experience while ensuring safety remains a top priority across all of our managed properties.

For lodges that include private saunas, we have recently introduced a set of new visual sauna safety posters. These have been designed to make the key usage rules clearer and easier for guests to understand.

Why We Created Visual Sauna Guides

Traditionally, sauna safety guidance has been provided within the Touchstay digital guidebook in written format. While this information is important, we recognise that guests often respond much better to clear visual instructions.

By creating illustrated posters, we can:

  • Make safety information quicker and easier to read

  • Ensure key rules are visible directly next to the sauna

  • Reinforce the same guidance that appears in Touchstay

  • Help guests follow the correct usage procedures without needing to search for instructions

This approach mirrors the style that our new hot tub safety posters that we introduced previously, which have proven to be very effective at improving guest awareness.

Where Guests Will See the Posters

The new sauna safety graphics will be used in two places:

Inside the Lodge

A printed poster will be displayed near the sauna, ensuring guests can quickly see the key safety rules before using the facility.

Within the Touchstay Guidebook

The same visual guides will also appear in the Touchstay digital welcome guide, helping guests review the instructions before and during their stay.

Using the same design both digitally and in the lodge helps reinforce the information and makes it easier for guests to remember.

Key Sauna Safety Guidance Included

The posters clearly highlight the most important sauna usage rules, including:

  • Showering before entering the sauna

  • Recommended session time limits

  • Using water on sauna stones carefully

  • Turning off the heater after use

  • Age restrictions

  • Maximum occupancy limits

  • Avoiding sauna use when consuming alcohol

  • Health conditions or medications that may require medical advice

  • Keeping flammable items away from the heater

The aim is to keep the guidance simple, clear and easy to follow.

Supporting Owners and Protecting Guests

Providing clear safety information helps protect both guests and property owners.

By making the rules more visible and accessible, we can:

  • Encourage responsible use of sauna facilities

  • Reduce the risk of misuse or accidents

  • Help guests enjoy the wellness facilities safely

This also helps ensure that Devon Holidays properties maintain the high standards guests expect when booking a stay with us.

Continuing to Improve the Guest Experience

These new sauna safety visuals are part of our ongoing efforts to improve guest communication and property presentation across the Devon Holidays portfolio.

If your lodge includes a sauna and you would like to ensure the correct signage is displayed, our team will be happy to help.

We believe that combining clear written guidance with visual signage provides the best experience for guests while helping everyone enjoy the facilities safely.
